What does OSHA require for farm field crews?
OSHA 29 CFR 1928.110 requires 1 toilet and 1 handwashing facility for every 20 field workers when 11 or more employees do hand labor in the field. They must be within a quarter-mile walk of each worker, or at the nearest point vehicles can reach. Crews working 3 hours or less, including travel, are exempt.
Read the rule at OSHA 1928.110 field sanitation. The rule also requires cool potable drinking water. Your farm's safety plan decides what applies to your crew.
| Field workers | Toilets | Handwashing facilities |
|---|---|---|
| 11–20 | 1 | 1 |
| 21–40 | 2 | 2 |
| 41–60 | 3 | 3 |
| 61–80 | 4 | 4 |
When do Wiregrass farms need units?
Wiregrass farms book units for spring planting, early-summer hand harvest of tomatoes and vegetables, and the September-to-October peanut and cotton harvest. Many farms keep one unit and hand wash station at the shop or packing shed all season and add field units at harvest.

Need a unit delivered?

How does a field delivery work?
Send a GPS pin or dropped map pin for each field, plus gate codes and which farm road to take. The driver places the unit at the field edge where the truck can reach it for weekly service. To move units to a new field, call dispatch a day ahead.
Keep units off terraces and soft turn rows after rain. Pair each toilet with a hand wash station to meet the handwashing part of the rule.
Questions renters ask before booking

Units can be moved to another field on request. A move costs the same as one extra service visit, $45 per unit, when it is on the same farm.
Can a farm unit stay all season?
A 28-day rental renews until you call for pickup, so units can stay from planting through harvest with weekly service.
Do you deliver to fields in Florida and Georgia too?
Fields in Jackson, Holmes and Washington counties in Florida and Early, Seminole, Decatur, Clay and Miller counties in Georgia are in our area.
How much does a farm unit cost?
Standard field units start at $165 per 28 days, and hand wash stations at $145, with weekly service.
